LightCruiser
Transforming the Land Cruiser 200 series into the ultimate light-chasing beast..
2016 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER
YEAR/MAKE/MODEL
2016 Toyota Land Cruiser (200 Series)
WHY I LOVE IT
I‘ve traveled all over the world taking photos in some of the most remote places on the planet. I have always trusted the Land Cruiser to get me there.
OVERLAND
roof Rack: prinsu design Studio
I chose this rack because the bars run side-to-side instead of front-to-back. This is important to me because I wanted to maintain use of my sunroof (I like to pop out of it to shoot photos.) I like the unique aesthetics of it and how it’s tailored to the rooftop of my Landcruiser instead of just generic one-size-fits-all.
Rooftop boxes: alubox (42L and 56L)
I was looking for super lightweight, durable rooftop storage that is both waterproof and that can stand up well against UV exposure. These boxes are designed and crafted in Denmark and they tick all the boxes (pun was not intended when
I typed this :-)

bike Rack: rhino rack hybrid bike carrier
I only need to carry one bike on my roof and I don’t like taking off my front wheel. I was looking for a rack with good security features, great construction and ease of use… I’m really happy with this rack.

Air Compressor— Airlift 5000
Small enough to fit flush into the storage spot of the factory jack and strong enough to inflate rear air bags up to 35PSI… I love this little air compressor.
lighting
light bar: rigid sr-series pro Midnight edition
I chose this light bar because of it’s super slim profile and the midnight black lens… it tucks super nicely into the wind deflector of the Prinsu rack, which has a notch in it designed for a 40” light bar.

driving light: Baja Designs LP9 (Driving/Spot Combo)
I love the way these lights look and now after holding them, I love the way their made… their construction is incredibly solid. I haven’t installed the yet, can’t wait.

SPOD 8-Circuit Wiring System (coming soon)
Body armor
front bumper: cbi offroad Aluminum front bumper
It’s lightweight (aluminum is about half the weight of steel) and it looks great… I want light because the LC200 is pretty heavy stock and I’m trying to protect my tow capacity everywhere I can.

rear bumper: cbi offroad Aluminum rear bumper
Same as front bumper.

rock Sliders: cbi offroad steel sliders
Great looking sliders that offer plenty of protection without clunking up the side profile.
Drivetrain
Tires: BFGoodrich TA KO2 285/70/17
I’ve run these tires for years on different rigs and I love the balance they strike of off-road (and snow) capability, fairly quiet and fairly long lasting. Feels like a great all around tire with an aggressive tread pattern.

wheels: 17” ICON Alloy Wheels Six Speed (Gunmetal)
These wheels look super slick but they’re also designed specifically for this Toyota platform. Stepping down from 18” to 17” means more sidewall and better performance rough conditions.

Front & Reason Suspension: ICon stage 2
I looked at a bunch of different suspensions and ultimately kept coming back to ICON because of their performance specifically on Toyota platforms and high ratings across the board.
Towing
electronic brake controller: REDARC Tow-Pro Elite
When towing the Airstream (which has electronic brakes) having the electronic brake controller is really helpful. Many trucks come with one installed from the factory but the LC200 does not. RedArc’s system is highly rated and installs flush into the dash so it feel like a factory install. I love this system compared to previous ones I’ve used.
drop hitch: Bulletproof Height Adjustable Hitch
Built super well… looks and works great.

Weight distribution hitch: equal-i-zer sway hitch
Towing the 25’ Airstream Flying Cloud without a sway control probably isn’t smart. The Equal-i-zer does a great job of controlling the sway and is fairly easy to hook/unhook.
